Pag-IBIG MP2 Application: Which is better? Online or In Branch application?

Posted by mycentsofwealth

This is my Pag-IBIG MP2 application story. For the full process please check out Pag-IBIG’s website. My BF and I were deciding whether we will just apply online or visit the branch in person. Obviously, with the ongoing pandemic, the online application was better. However, my BF was to deposit a large amount of money and we were not comfortable transferring that large amount of money online. It was a lot to lose. So we opted to apply in their branch thinking that our application will be approved and that we can deposit on the same day. But alas, it didn’t. We went to their JMall Mandaue Cebu branch and we were told to just drop off the filled up form in their dropbox and come back after two days to deposit because the processing time is two days. I’m not sure if this is the same throughout all the branches or if this is a new process but I haven’t read anything about NOT being able to deposit on the same day. From what I read online, you will be given your Pag-IBIG MP2 account number INSTANTLY and you can deposit funds immediately after. This is why I really thought we could do the two steps on the same day WITHOUT WAITING TIME. If you are reading this and have tried applying online, is this true?

If yes, it doesn’t make sense to apply to their branch directly and have a waiting time. Anyway, we called the branch and they confirmed that the application is approved. We went back after 3 days and we were able to deposit funds. If I knew that this was the case, we could have applied online prior going to the branch and just go there to deposit after the application. I’ve read numerous Pag-IBIG MP2 application stories that they were approved instantly, both online and in-branch application. Anyway, I’m just ranting in here because of all the back and forth and taxi fares that we incurred. Plus I hate waiting in lines. Sharing this too in case anybody is planning to apply in the JMall branch.
